Desert - Delta (Namibia- Botswana-Zimbabwe)

A typical Desert to Delta tour starting in Namibia will cover the main highlights for which this part of the sub-region is popular including Sossusvlei, Etosha National Park, Caprivi Strip, Okavango Delta and Victoria Falls.

This itinerary can be adjusted as required by guests to either exclude some spots or include others not mentioned here.

  1. Day 1 Arrival in Windhoek

    Arrival in Windhoek, customs clearance, meet & greet at airport and transfer to first accommodation in or around the city (alternatively, transfer directly to first lodge accommodation) on the itinerary. Check-in and choice of activities depending on arrival time.

  2. Day 2 Sossusvlei & Deadvlei, Namib Desert

    Drive to Sossusvlei in the Namib Sand Sea World Heritage site. Situated in the largest conservation area in Africa (the Namib-Naukluft National Park), Sossusvlei is possibly Namibia’s most spectacular and best-known attraction, characterised by the large red dunes, a large, white, salt and clay pan and the dunes are some of the highest in the world, reaching almost 400 meters. 2-night accommodation at Sossusvlei Lodge or similar.   3. Day 3 Sossusvlei & Deadvlei, Namib Desert

    Possible activities: Sossusvlei excursion, including Deadvlei and Sesriem Canyon

  4. Day 4 Coastal Swakopmund

    Depart for Swakopmund, a town on the west coast of Namibia. The name is German for "Mouth of the Swakop"(River). Swakopmund is a beach resort and an example of German colonial architecture. It was founded in 1892. 2-night accommodation at Atlantic Garden Boutique Hotel or similar. Lunch en-route; dinner in town; Basis: BB

  5. Day 5 Coastal Swakopmund

    Possible activities:Sandwich Harbour Excursion, Wetlands Lagoon, Helicopter or Scenic Flight, Boat cruises

  6. Day 6 Etosha National Park

    Drive to Etosha, where the Etosha Pan is a vast ancient lake turned salt pan that covers around 4,800km², almost a quarter of the park. At 130 km long and up to 50km wide in places, it is comfortably the largest salt pan in Africa and is visible even from space. 2-night accommodation Etosha Safari or NWR Oakukeujo/Namutoni or similar.   7. Day 7 Etosha National Park

    Possible activities:Full day game drive in the park

  8. Day 8 Otavi Triangle

    The towns of Otavi, Tsumeb (to the north) and Grootfontein (to the northeast) define an area known as the "Otavi Triangle", also known as the Otavi Mountainland. This geographical region is sometimes referred to as the "Golden Triangle", or as the "maize Triangle", owing to the cultivation of maize in the area.   9. Day 9 Rundu

    Rundu is the capital and largest city of the Kavango-East Region in northern Namibia. It lies on the border with Angola on the banks of the Kavango River about 1,000 metres (3,300 feet) above sea level. 1-night accommodation at Kaisosi River Lodge or similar. Lunch en-route; Basis: DBB

  10. Day 10 Divundu or Kongola

    Divundu is a village on the south-eastern banks of the Okavango River in the Kavango East Region, Namibia, 200 kilometres east of Rundu. Kongola is a settlement in Namibia's Caprivi Strip in the Zambezi Region. 2-night accommodation at Divundu Guest House or Namushasha River Lodge or similar.   11. Day 11 Divundu or Kongola

    Possible activities: Visit Popa Falls or Bwabwata National Park

  12. Day 12 Kasane, Botswana

    Kasane is a town in the northeastern corner of Botswana, near the borders with Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe. It's the gateway to Chobe National Park and the Okavango Delta, known for the herds of elephants which converge on the Chobe River in the dry season. 2-night accommodation at Chobe Safari Lodge or similar.   13. Day 13 Kasane, Botswana

    Possible activities: Game Drive, Boat Cruise

  14. Day 14 Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe

    Victoria Falls is a waterfall on the Zambezi River, providing habitat for several unique species of plants and animals. It is located on the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe and is one of the world's largest waterfalls, with a width of 1,708 m. 1-night accommodation Azambezi river Lodge or similar.   15. Day 15 Departure

    After breakfast, transfer to Victoria Falls International Airport for return flight
